Why don't we sell plastic water bottles? 80 percent of the plastic water bottles we buy end up in landfills. Plastic bottles use a lot of fossil fuels and pollute the environment. The production of water bottles uses 17 million barrels of crude oil a year, and it takes three times the water to make the bottle as it does to fill it.
Roughly 200 billion water bottles are produced globally each year. Americans buy more bottle waters than any other nation in the world, adding 29 billion water bottles a year to the problem. (The USA alone uses 2 million every 5 minutes!) This plastic usually ends up in our landfills to remain for many hundreds of years.
Simple way to help: buy reusable water bottles and recycle!
