Kickboxing for a Cause: Social Tees Animal Rescue

Will Workout For Puppies!

Welcome to Hit House's first post-pandemic "Puppies & Fitness" event. This donation-based class, held on Tuesday, July 23rd, marks Hit House's 8th (!!!) time working with Social Tees Animal Rescue. This special event's goal was to raise money for the animal rescue's veterinary fund, and raise awareness (as always) for the volunteer and foster program.

Who is Social Tees Animal Rescue? Social Tees Animal Rescue is a non-profit (501c3) no-kill rescue in NYC finding forever homes for abandoned dogs and cats. All animals that Social Tees rescue are in foster homes. STAR believes that when done responsibly, a foster based system is the healthiest option: The animals receive one-on-one care and training, and prospective adopters get a much clearer picture of what kind of lifestyle that animal is likely to require long term. Animal behavior and needs can change dramatically between a kennel and a home setting.

STAR provides all animals they rescue with veterinary care. They ensure that each animal is neutered; up to date on core vaccines at the time of adoption; microchipped; treated with de-fleaing, de-worming, and de-miting medication as necessary and more. This event raised almost $700 to help supply animals with vet care - thank you all!

What's the event like? Guests purchased a ticket that included Hit House's signature all-levels kickboxing class, pushed themselves in Hit House co-owner Tyler Scott's 45 minute Muay Thai inspired class, and then were greeted by adoptable dogs post-workout! Guests spent time with dogs that are currently being fostered by STAR, as well as chat with the foster parents and volunteers and learn more about how STAR works!

Meet the adoptable Social Tees dogs:

This is Blythe, a female hound and labrador mix. Here's her Pet Finder listing!

This is Reading (formerly Otis Reading), a low-rider Corgi and terrier mix. He's even smaller than he appears in photo (approx. 35 lbs and 5 years old). Here's his Pet Finder listing!

This is Galileo, a labrador and terrier puppy mix, who has enough energy to take a Hit House class himself. Here's a link to his Pet Finder listing!

Social Tees Animal Rescue relies almost entirely on donations from the public, 100 percent of which are used directly to save animals’ lives. Click here to make a donation!

Meet Soul Munchie: a home baker who makes Asian-inspired edibles that are delicious and provides a wonderful experience. From matcha chocolate chip cookies to the most amazing strawberry shortcake cupcakes ever to custom sweet potato based doggy treats, check out the menu here! Check out her IG page to follow her adventures in NYC, her Muay Thai journey, and her blissful love for the green plant. Get ready to be inspired and hungry!

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Social Tees Animal Rescue, especially Katie and Abbie, the patient event leaders! Thank you to our friends who graciously donated goods to keep us hydrated and energized and happy: eBoost, Golden Peak ice tea, Puppies Make Me Happy, Venture Pal and vitaminwater.
